AI Coding Pilot Cost & Review Calculator

Estimate net time saved after implementation, human review and rework, then compare its labour value with the direct costs of an AI coding pilot.

How the estimate is calculated

Net hours saved equal work items multiplied by baseline hours per item minus AI-assisted implementation, human review and rework hours per item. Labour value saved is net hours saved multiplied by the blended hourly cost. Direct costs combine subscriptions, usage and setup; estimated net value is labour value saved minus those direct costs. Return on direct costs is estimated net value divided by direct costs.

Use comparable work items and include prompting, validation, integration and defect fixes in the matching time fields. Do not count the same effort twice.

Example: include review and rework

For 20 items with a 6-hour baseline, 3 implementation hours, 1.5 review hours and 0.5 rework hours per item, estimated net time saved is 20 hours. At CAD 75 per hour, that is CAD 1,500 in labour value. Three CAD 25 seats for one month cost CAD 75; with no other costs, estimated net value is CAD 1,425 and return on direct costs is 1,900%.

This is a scenario estimate, not measured productivity evidence. It does not score code quality, security, delivery risk, opportunity cost or future maintenance. Results depend on the inputs and task comparability. Calculations run in your browser; entered values are not sent to iPragma.
